Marketing Coordinator & Production Assistant (2023)
Job Summary:
Basilica Hudson is seeking a Marketing Coordinator & Production Assistant to join our team. The Marketing Coordinator & Production Assistant will report to the Program Manager in all aspects of event promotions including:
- digital and print ad placements
- social media management
- graphic design
- grassroots outreach strategies
- website updates
to encourage robust ticket sales and generate support for the organization and its programs.
The Marketing Coordinator & Production Assistant will also work on-site events and assist with day-of-show preparations. Because Basilica Hudson is a small team, this position is very collaborative and involved in day-to-day operations.
The ideal candidate has prior marketing experience with an arts organization. The candidate must be detail-oriented, a strong writer with an eye for graphic design, knowledgeable about current marketing concepts, fluent in social media platforms and posting, and comfortable interfacing with event attendees, partners and artists.
Location and Schedule:
Basilica Hudson is located in Hudson, NY. This is a remote/hybrid hourly position. Estimated 30 hours per week during the off season [December – April], and 40 hours per week in season [May – November]. Candidate must be local to the Hudson Valley and able to work occasional evenings and weekends for on-site events.

Housed in a solar-powered, reclaimed 1880s industrial factory, Basilica Hudson is a nonprofit multidisciplinary art center located in Hudson, NY. We welcome more than 20,000 visitors each season to genre-pushing music festivals, large-scale marketplace events, regular film screenings, an artist in residency program, a new weekly concert/art series in the Gallery Building, public installations and other community gatherings. The majority of our programs are free or sliding scale.
Basilica Hudson works with hundreds of artists, filmmakers, chefs, designers and makers each season, and we want to expand how we tell their stories and communicate Basilica Hudson’s mission.
Responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Strategize marketing plans for each program
- Distribute or coordinate distribution of posters/postcards/banners at poster/postcard outlets in Hudson and surrounding areas
- Use supplied graphic design templates (Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator) to create social media graphics, ads, sponsorship decks and other digital materials, designing new layouts when necessary
- Upload events to calendar listing sites
- Write and schedule social media posts via Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
- Monitor messages and @mentions on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- Upload event information, recent press, photos, and landing page updates to basilicahudson.org
- Write event recaps for basilicahudson.org blog
- Maintain Basilica Hudson’s nonprofit mission and fundraising messaging throughout all materials
- Manage Basilica Hudson’s Patreon platform
Archiving:
- Maintain well-labeled archive of event photography
- Work with Basilica’s Freelance Press Coordinator to maintain press archive, including best-of press quotes for each program as well as Basilica Hudson overall
- Curate from archive and develop social media posting strategy of ‘throwbacks’
Event Work:
- Work all on-site events
- Coordinate merchandise designs and orders for events
- Assist Program Manager with on-site event set up and breakdown, including signage, crowdflow, box office, bar and general building prep
Required Skills:
- Strong writing ability for both long and short form content
- Fluency in major social media platforms with a passion for community
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
- Confidence to take initiative, problem-solve and stay level headed in fast-paced environments while working live events
- A “people-person” who thrives working with a tight-knit team
- Creative passion for expanding marketing and content creation strategies
- Interested in and engaged with arts and culture
- Personal laptop is required
