For the Sunday morning following Gang Gang Dance’s headlining set, we’re pleased to announce another reason to come to Hudson for the weekend, a 90-minute brunch-hour presentation by the artist Marina Abramović in the raw space of what will become the Marina Abramović Institute for the Preservation of Performance Art.

The Institute will be housed in this 20,000 square foot building that, after being built in 1929 and housing a theatre, an indoor tennis court, and then an antiques market, has been empty for half a decade. (MAI’s being designed by OMA under the “design leadership” of Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas.) The presentation, which includes a virtual tour of the design concepts and a question and answer period, starts at 11am on Sunday, August 12. Abramović will be joined by the Institute Director Serge Le Borgne for the discussion. The building will remain open to the public until 5pm that day.
