JUPITER NIGHTS – Basilica Hudson’s summer series of art/music events in our Gallery Building – returns for a night of dreamy bedroom pop, funk, and an exploration of the human voice with Kalbells (Brooklyn, NY), Home Body (W. Mass) and Odeya Nini (L.A., CA).

Kalbells sprouted as the solo writing & recording project of Kalmia Traver (Rubblebucket). Over the course of 2 albums and countless performances the act has become an all-star groove collective with the addition of Angelica Bess (Body Language) and Sarah Pedinotti (Liptalk). Based in Brooklyn, NY Kalbells has performed at Brooklyn Museum, filmed a Tiny Desk concert, and toured nationally opening for the likes of Chrome Sparks and Lake Street Dive. Cheeky lyrics, warm & dreamy bedroom pop moods, deeply funky bass lines and powerfully tight vocal harmonies are the trademarks of the Kalbells sound.

Home Body

Synthesist Eric Hnatow and vocalist Haley Morgan make music as Home Body, harnessing light, sound, and movement to present a throbbing synth spectacle oozing with raw energy and emotional grit. Hailing from western Massachusetts, the duo plays with form and improvisation, enchanting audiences for the past decade with their infectious spirit and danceable, moody electro-pop. Live, they punctuate their sound with manual light manipulation, reaching beyond their performance to create a high-vibration spectacle that is physically and emotionally moving. Home Body’s sophomore LP ‘Spiritus’ (Feeding Tube Records / Peace & Rhythm) has been heralded as “gorgeous art-pop that’s able to address big realities” (Bandcamp New & Notable) and their music has been featured in fashion shows, modern dance performances, and in sweaty clubs across North America. The duo is currently in the studio working on new music.

Odeya Nini

Odeya Nini is a Los Angeles based interdisciplinary vocalist, composer, vocal embodiment coach and sound meditation practitioner. Her solo vocal work extends the dimension and expression of the voice and body, creating a sonic and physical panorama of silence to noise and tenderness to grandeur.

She has performed internationally from concert halls to caves and is a member of the 3 times Grammy nominated ensemble Wild Up. Her album ODE was recognized by The New Yorker Magazine as a notable recording of 2022. She is the founder of Free The Voice and leads vocal sound meditations, workshops and retreats exploring the transformative and healing qualities of embodying the voice.
