Basilica Hudson is proud to continue its Hudson As Muse Basilica Back Gallery Artist In Residence Series through 2019. The series invites artists to explore the location itself as muse and to create work with the eclectic present and past of this river city as central inspiration.

Back Gallery Opening events are the culmination of artists spending time in and experiencing the space, before opening it up to the public.

A FREE evening of performance by filmmaker Zia Anger launches our 2019 Basilica Back Gallery Artist In Residence Series. MY FIRST FILM pushes the boundaries of what the cinematic experience can be.

Following Zia’s inaugural residency and performance, the series will go on to feature work by artists including photographer Daniel McCabe, musician Kaki King, painter Sonia Corina Ruscoe, dancer Davon and the young artists from Social Justice Leadership Academy. Entitled Hudson As Muse, the series invites artists to create site-specific work that engages with the location itself, and will incorporate music, photography, dance, painting and film in the most multidisciplinary array of Hudson Valley talent since its launch.

Previous artists in residency have included Jack Walls, Annie Bielski, Jim Krewson, Sonia Ruscoe and Joe Perez, Joe Mama-Nitzberg, Becca Van K, Social Justice Leadership Academy and more.

Visits available by appointment. Please email info@basilicahudson.org

Basilica Hudson’s Back Gallery program is generously supported, in part, by the Martha Boschen Porter Fund and the Artist’s Resource Trust (A.R.T.) Fund, administered by Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.
