A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our fifth annual Basilica Farm & Flea Holiday Market. Over 100 farmers, makers, artists, chefs and collectors created an exciting and inspiring weekend, and over 10,000 visitors came through the old factory doors to share it with us.

Basilica strives to be a gateway to the dynamic and abundant Hudson River Valley region and the creativity, independent spirit and joyful people of Farm & Flea energize us as we move into dreams for 2018.

Supporting us in our dream to give a platform to local artists and creative entrepreneurs, is the generosity of our supporters and community partners: Green Mountain Energy, WM Farmer & Sons, Harney & Sons, Camphill Village, Columbia County Tourism, The Lofgren Agency and The Wick Hotel. We were also delighted to welcome Upstate Diary back as a media partner, along with new media partners The Alt and Rural Intelligence.

To Jack Walls, Nancy Barber, Bill Stone, Elise McMahon, Christina RipleyJim Krewson and all the artists who contributed artworks and objects, thank you for helping us to launch the first ever Farm & Flea Basilica Art Shop.

DELICIOUS! Nicole Lobue of Alimentary Kitchen and Ruby and Sather Duke of Raven and Boar, sumptuous farm-fresh food and local delicacies are integral to the spirit of Farm & Flea. Along with Fish & Game, Irving Farm Coffee Roasters and Brooklyn Oyster Party, their creations kept us fuelled for a busy and inspiring weekend.

Thank you to the girls of Perfect Ten and the whole Badila Family whose hands-on, family-friendly booths kept young and old kids alike busy with activities like henna, paper flower-making, arts and crafts and DIY cat painting. Elsewhere, the Afghan Photo Booth gave us beautiful, unique keepsake portraits to commemorate a really special weekend.

Thanks to Hudson’s own sauerkraut connoisseur, Sauerkraut Seth, whose Chops, Kraut & Kroutons filled Friday evening’s soiree with a blend of rockabilly, roots and rock & roll. Meanwhile, Mounanou Badila gave us an energising chance to create our own music with a series of inclusive percussion workshops and drum circles. We can’t wait to have them all back again in 2018.

Basilica Hudson is fully committed to playing our part in preserving our environment. As well as being 100% solar-powered, we were delighted to be joined this year by Zero To Go, who helped us get one step closer to making Basilica Farm & Flea a zero-waste event. Over the course of the weekend, their team – along with our superstar Basilica volunteers – processed 178 lbs of waste, only 16 lbs (1 bag) of which were trash. We’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with them as we move into 2018.

Thanks also to the jurors whose broad knowledge and appreciation of the many talented creators in our area helps us maintain and expand the event and ensures that we are able to consider, review and select the highest quality work the region has to offer: Colin Stair (Stair Galleries), Katharine Daugherty (Drop Forge & Tool), Chris Hebert (The Hudson Mercantile), Matthew + Chloe Bernbach (Bernbach Jewelry), Karla Roberts (Garage Editions), Marie Chambers (LOOK HUDSON)

Special thanks to our collaborators and allies who have been with us since the start: Elise Mcmahon of LikeMindedObjects, who brings the space to life for Farm & Flea, and Lauren Giambrone founder of Good Fight Herb Co. and Wild Gather: Hudson Valley School of Herbal Studies, who brings the farm and wilds to Farm & Flea.
