What does peace sound like?

River Valley Baroque presents an evening of choral music spanning four centuries in the soaring acoustics of Basilica Hudson.

Performed by a professional vocal & instrumental ensemble, and featuring works by Salamone Rossi, Felix Mendelssohn, Louis Lewandowski, Emanuel Kirshner, and Max Janowski, the program explores a rich musical tradition, with themes of compassion, resilience, and hope that continue to resonate today.

The program culminates with Leonard Bernstein’s iconic Chichester Psalms, presented in its rarely performed chamber orchestration. This intimate version brings new clarity to one of the twentieth century’s most beloved choral masterworks.

The performance will begin with a brief introduction by River Valley Baroque founder Hannah Milnes, offering historical and musical context for the evening’s repertoire.
