JUPITER NIGHTS – Basilica’s summer series returns for its third year of unmissable live music, transformative art, ridiculously good food, and all the best of summer in the Hudson Valley.

Short Bio: YATTA (aka. ricky sallay zoker) is a Sierra Leonean-American vocalist, producer, and composer. Characterized by textural electronic sounds, looped vocals, and rooted in improvisation, humor, and surprise, they have a playful, intuitive approach to sound and performance. Over the years, they have shared stages with artists like Beverly Glenn Copeland, Laraaji, and The Sun Ra Arkestra, creating multimedia performances that tour nationally and internationally. They have presented installations and performed at Les Urbaines, MOCA, Roulette, The Kitchen, RedCat, MOMA, The Tate, and The Getty.

Joy Guidry

Radical self-love, compassion, laughter, and the drive to amplify Black artmakers and noisemakers comprise the core of bassoonist and composer Joy Guidry’s work. Their performances have been hailed by The San Diego Tribune as “lyrical and haunting…hair-raising and unsettling.” A versatile improviser and a composer of experimental, daring new works that embody a deep love of storytelling, Joy’s own music channels their inner child, in honor of their ancestors and predecessors. In addition, Joy Guidry is the winner of the 2021 Berlin Prize for Young Artists.

Saapato is the music project of upstate NY based multi-instrumentalist Brendan Principato. His work focuses on the intersection of ecology and music, using a distinct blend of manipulated field recordings and lush electronic soundscapes to encourage listeners to reconsider their place within nature. Most recently he spent half of August 2023 in residence with the Alaska State Park Service recording bird migrations and the salmon run outside of Juneau. In the autumn of 2022, he was in residence with the National Park Service on Fire Island, NY documenting “shoulder season” in the rare and rapidly disappearing swale and dune habitats. His latest record, On Fire Island was released via Sound as Language on May 3rd and is the result of his time spent in residence with the National Park Service.
