This Thanksgiving, the wildly successful Basilica Farm & Flea – the marketplace held at Basilica Hudson – returns on November 27 – 29! Created as an alternative to “Black Friday” culture, the annual market brings together a collection of quality products presented by a diverse group of about 125 regional makers, farmers, chefs and vintage collectors to promote the talents and resources within our community.

Basilica Farm & Flea is a large scale fleamarket and farmstand that presents a collection of quality products presented by a diverse group of regional makers, farmers, and vintage collectors in partnership with Hudson River Exchange. Basilica Farm & Flea is committed to promoting the talents and resources within our community. Participating vendors are independent artists and designers or collectors of high quality vintage wares who espouse the “no bar code” ethos of Basilica Farm & Flea.

As one of Basilica Hudson’s biggest annual events, the 2014 iteration was overwhelmingly successful, drawing nearly 7,000 people to Hudson in one weekend. This, coupled with a record-breaking number of 2015 applications, promises that this year’s Farm & Flea will be even bigger and better. With 17,000 square feet of industrial interior space, this is the only market of its kind in the region.

“[Basilica Farm & Flea] is an urban-chic-meets-new-rural extravaganza…a stellar shopping be-in.” – Chronogram

Kicking off the event Friday, November 27th with a market preview from 2-9 PM and the Black Friday Soiree from 5-9 PM, the weekend begins with a focus on food and festivities including tastings of local cider and distilled spirits, and great music, as well as an early opportunity to shop a wide selection of vendors before the main weekend commences.

The Basilica Farm & Flea marketplace will take place from Saturday, November 28 through Sunday, November 29 from 10 AM – 6 PM. Visitors can shop handmade and vintage goods, eat quality food, or attend one of our educational workshops or cultural lectures. New this year, the event promises expanded tastings and educational workshops, as well as an exciting expansion on the “Flea” component of the market – our special vintage concept space featuring even more collectors and collaborators.

Basilica Farm & Flea is committed to supporting alternative economies. We take pride in highlighting the abundance of small, authentic businesses located within the Hudson Valley and providing an alternative to the Black Friday “Big Box” holiday shopping experience.

Besides the history of the area, Hudson is increasingly being recognized as a destination for quality food, art, design, antiques and vintage. The town and its community of creatives has earned praise in American Craft Magazine, which stated that “Hudson is a melting pot of the American maker movement.” Event organizers say they are emboldened and inspired to showcase the best of what the Hudson Valley has to offer: farms, food, makers, collectors, and strong community. We unite in our passion for one-of-a-kind things and the city of Hudson.

“If Black Friday is synonymous with all that is wrong with capitalism, then the worthy antithesis to this unofficial sale-worshipping holiday is the Basilica Farm & Flea” Cool Hunting
