Painter Haley Josephs will be the latest Basilica Back Gallery artist-in-residency, displaying her paintings from Thursday, August 24, with viewings by appointment after that date.

Haley will explore the mysteriousness of the Catskill mountains and the surrounding Hudson valley within the realm of feminine sensuality through paint.

Haley Josephs (b. 1987, Seattle WA), received her BFA in Painting & Drawing from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2011 and her MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale University in 2014.  Josephs has exhibited locally and internationally.  She was included in Painting Forward at Thomas Erben Gallery in 2016, Too Much of a Good Thing at the Basilica Hudson in Hudson, NY, and her first solo exhibition, Civil Twilight, at Deli Gallery in New York, NY.   She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

This exhibition continues Basilica Hudson’s 2017 thematic Back Gallery artist in residency program, which explores the location as muse. Creating the work in Hudson and at Basilica suggests that the eclectic present and past of this river city is central to inspiration.

Back Gallery Openings are a culmination of artist(s) spending some time in the space, experiencing the place and then opening it up to the public.
