Dancer/performance artist/hostess/southern girl Davon will be the final August 2019 participant in the Hudson As Muse Basilica Back Gallery Artist In Residence Series, presenting a FREE public performance of new work as part of The Hudson Eye series of programs, presented by Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation.

Combining dance, music, theater and drag to tell a story of love and loss through the viewpoint of a queer artist of color, ONE NIGHT ONLY is a collaborative program that fuses both live and recorded music, and draws on the value of creative community. The program features performances from local musicians and artists including Lady Moon, Chris Garneau and Nkodia.

Originally from Tennessee, Davon has trained at prestigious art schools and worked for many choreographers and directors during her career. ONE NIGHT ONLY marks a public presentation of her evolving creative practice, as she continues to explore the performance of her own semi-scripted and improvisational solo work to craft captivating narratives that are at once deeply personal and disarmingly universal.

The Hudson As Muse Basilica Back Gallery Artist In Residence Series invites artists to explore the location itself as muse, and to create work with the eclectic present and past of this river city as central inspiration.

This program is made possible in part thanks to the support of The Hudson Eye.

The Hudson Eye is an artist-driven 10-day public program and urban showcase, with a focus on dance, music, performance, film, visual art, dining out and nightlife. The Hudson Eye curatorially frames 20 local and visiting artists, with performances, exhibitions, and talks highlighting ten issues of interest to the local community, with a “dine around” series as well.
