We are excited to announce the first key dates and details for our 2019 season, celebrating our ninth season of programming with a genre-spanning array of film, music, art, literature and live performance throughout 2019.

We are delighted to be back for our ninth season, and are so excited for what this year will bring. While we dig deep into planning and programming, from 24-HOUR DRONE to the Basilica Back Gallery series, we are striving to engage with and strengthen our relations with leaders, partners and friends in our city and region. We want to create a dynamic forum for forward-thinking cultural exchange, sustainable community and meaningful change, and are building our 2019 programs with this mission at our core.

More than 85% of all Basilica Hudson programs were free or low-cost in 2018 and, thanks to a number of new funding opportunities, Basilica will improve on this in 2019 to become even more broadly accessible, with all film screenings and Back Gallery exhibitions open to the public at no cost to attendees. The full film program and list of artists selected for Basilica’s Back Gallery artist in residence program will follow as the season gets underway.

Following a pre-season winter festival of sculpture, performance and folklore with Imbolc Riverfire on February 2nd, Basilica’s 2019 season will launch in earnest on April 27 – 28 with the return of 24-HOUR DRONE, a long-form homage to sound which spans genres and continents in its celebration of the ancient tradition of drone – sustained tones in music of all kinds. Basilica’s large-scale independent marketplace Basilica Farm & Flea returns with the start of Spring, before Basilica’s summer program kicks into gear with regular free film screenings, art exhibitions, concerts and dance parties. As fall approaches, Basilica SoundScape returns with a wide-ranging weekend of music and art, before Basilica Farm & Flea Holiday Market closes out the season with a ‘no barcode, no plastic wrap’ alternative to big box Black Friday shopping.

The evening kicks off at sundown with the best seat in town for Hudson’s spectacular fireworks display (one of the largest in the Hudson Valley, launched from Basilica’s parking lot), and the freaky festivities take off from there, with a new-wave and industrial dance party raising flags and funds for art and freaks. Each market features a diverse group of regional vendors selling their wares alongside locally-sourced, farm-fresh foods.
